I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost concern regarding a recent recharge I made through the Google Pay app on October 26, 2023. I have encountered a problem that raises questions about the integrity of the services provided by VI (Vodafone Idea) and Google Pay.
On the said date, I initiated a recharge for INR 98 through the Google Pay app, which displayed a plan claiming to offer unlimited calling for 14 days. After the recharge, I realized that the unlimited calling plan was not activated. I promptly reached out to VI customer care to address this issue, and they provided me with an email address to report the problem.
Upon contacting the email address provided, I received a call, during which I was informed that the INR 98 plan I had purchased was, in fact, a data pack and did not include unlimited calling. This directly contradicted the information displayed on Google Pay at the time of the recharge. When I questioned the discrepancy, I was told that this was due to Google Pay not updating their information and that the problem lay on Google Pay’s side. However, when I contacted Google Pay, they claimed that the issue was from VI’s customer care.
I believe that I am not at fault here, and the misleading information provided during the recharge process led to this situation. I requested a refund of the amount, but VI customer care informed me that they do not have a refund option and offered me talktime worth INR 98 instead. However, I would like to request a refund of the amount as I had to recharge with INR 179 to activate an unlimited calling plan due to the initial discrepancy.
I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue and ensuring that I receive a refund for the INR 98 I spent on the misleading recharge. I believe this is a matter of consumer rights and fair business practices, and I hope the cyber cell can help me in this regard.
Please advise me on the appropriate steps to take and how to proceed in order to resolve this matter. I have attached the relevant transaction and communication records for your references.
