Order ID: 20230513961130406
GoMechanic Buddy: Mayank Vishwakarma
Workshop Name and Address: GoMechanic – Auto Best Car Workshop
Shop No. 50, Indra Nagar, Arera Colony, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh 462016

I made a booking for the steering rack repair service for our TATA Indigo through GoMechanic, for a total of Rs. 6000 (which I paid while booking), on the 13th of May. The scheduled pickup slot was assigned for the 14th of May, and the pickup agent arrived and collected the car accordingly.

However, on the following day, I received a message from GoMechanic stating that the car was picked up on the 15th (despite the actual pickup taking place on the 14th). Furthermore, the invoice was issued under the name of an individual named Abhay Malviya, whom I am unfamiliar with, and when I sought clarification from the GoMechanic buddy via WhatsApp, there was no response.

On the 15th, the GoMechanic buddy informed me that the steering rack required replacement, which would amount to Rs. 14,000. Subsequently, he mentioned that the boot of the drive shaft was in poor condition and needed repair, estimating the cost at Rs. 3000. After negotiation, we agreed upon a total of Rs. 18,500 for the work, with the assurance that the car would be delivered by the 17th afternoon, two days later. However, I did not receive any updates regarding the status of the car until 5 pm on the 17th.

After numerous calls and messages, the workshop owner informed me that a major leakage had occurred in the pipe connected to the steering oil filling point following the rack replacement. Despite the owner’s efforts to locate the problematic pipe, he was unable to find it. Regrettably, there were no updates or communication regarding the car for the past three days. Furthermore, my attempts to reach the owner via phone calls were unsuccessful, and my messages were consistently ignored. Given that the workshop had already held the car for four days, I insisted on collecting it myself and requested that the old rack be reinstalled. It was around 6:30 pm when I made this decision. I sought the guidance of a family car expert, who accompanied me to the workshop. We arrived at the workshop by 7:30 pm, one hour later.

Upon arrival, we discovered that there was only one worker present who seemed to be unaware of the repairs carried out on the car. Neither the owner nor the buddy were available at the workshop. The owner declined to attend and mentioned that he would be away from Bhopal for the next four days. He also claimed that they had reinstalled the repaired rack in the car. It should be noted that the replacement of a steering rack typically requires an average of 4-6 hours. It is perplexing how the repair or replacement was allegedly completed within just an hour, especially in the absence of the owner and with only one worker present. It raises doubts as to whether any repair or replacement took place at all. I requested the car keys on three occasions, but the worker denied my request and prevented me from inspecting the vehicle. Additionally, he insisted that I pay an additional Rs. 6640 (in addition to the initial Rs. 6000 I had already paid) in order to retrieve the car. The original payment of Rs. 6000 made through GoMechanic was intended to cover the steering repair costs. However, the buddy inflated the repair cost to Rs. 7600, along with other exaggerated charges, bringing the total to Rs. 12,640.

Despite my attempts to contact both the owner and the buddy, their responses indicated a joint effort to deceive and defraud customers. The owner remained unresponsive, while the buddy demonstrated a lack of comprehension. They persistently reiterated the same statements in an attempt to take advantage of individuals who placed their trust in them.

I possess evidence substantiating all the claims I have made thus far. I kindly request a thorough investigation into this matter; otherwise, I will be compelled to pursue legal action against the workshop owner, the buddy, and the company.

Regards,
Ritik
