I was going through this app called “Gold Rupee” which seemed to give out instant credit. Out of curiosity, it had already submitted an apparent application from the app to a third party lender of INR 5000/-. An amount of 3000 was credited to my account, saying 2000/- included processing fee and other hidden charges. The due date for repayment was mentioned nowhere. The due date for the payment was on 06/08/2023. But today, 05/08/2023, I started receiving various spam calls and later messages on my WhatsApp threatening me to pay the loan back, otherwise they’d edit my picture and send it accross to my contacts. The permissions for the app was also not mentioned earlier. They have somehow also gained access to my phone pe records with the contacts and the phone numbers. They have called me defaming names, by cyber bullying me and harassing me. On sending a mail to them regarding the issue, all that said was “We had already reminded you from two days to pay it. If you have complaints, give us your “personal details” and we shall give feedback to the person who has blackmailed you.
