Text of Complaint by Vidhi Tiwari:

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Shine.com, an online job portal, for their unethical and fraudulent practices in connection with a job offer. I believe that my experience highlights a violation of consumer rights and the need for immediate action to address this issue.

On 14th Septembet 2023, I came across a job posting on Naukari.com for a position that seemed suitable for my qualifications and experience. I applied for job suitable for me .Shortly after, I received an call from Shine.com with reference to naukri.com, informing me that my application had been shortlisted by the hiring company. They requested that I make a payment of INR 499/- as a “refundable” processing fee to proceed with the application and interview process. The call and mail stated that the amount would be refunded once the 1st round will be processed.

I found it unusual to be asked for a refundable fee in connection with a job application, but I trusted the credibility of Shine.com and proceeded to make the payment as requested. I paid the INR 499/- through the through PhonePe UPI paymeny method on 14th September 2023.

I attempted to contact Shine.com’s customer support to seek a refund, but my efforts were in vain. They did not respond to my calls and messages, and their helpline provided no assistance in resolving the matter.

This experience has left me not only financially disadvantaged but also emotionally distressed. I strongly believe that Shine.com has engaged in fraudulent practices by soliciting a refundable fee for a non-existent job opportunity.

In light of the above circumstances, I kindly request the Consumer Forum to take appropriate action against Shine.com for their fraudulent activities. I seek the following remedies:

1. Refund of the INR 499/- that I paid to Shine.com.
2. Investigation into Shine.com’s practices to prevent further exploitation of job seekers.
3. Imposition of penalties and legal action against Shine.com for their fraudulent activities.

I am willing to cooperate fully with any investigation and provide any necessary documents or evidence to support my complaint. I trust that the Consumer Forum will take swift action to protect the rights and interests of consumers like myself. I have call recordiing as well, if required please update me on mail.

I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a favorable resolution.
