I am a Graduate looking for a job. I lost my job due the crisis followed by the pandemic. Since September of last year I am tirelessly trying to find a job hence I have sent hundreds of resumes to various companies. I have updated my Airtel mobile number, which is registered on my Fathers name , in all those resumes and in respective job portals. On 10th November 2021 at 12:09 I received a call from a HR and she scheduled me a Telephonic interview the next day. But around 6 PM in the evening I noticed that there was no network signal shown for my Airtel sim. I contacted the Customer service there they asked me to go to the near by Airtel showroom since the told me that it may due to the physical damage. When I told him that I didn’t remove the sim card for the damage to occur, he told me that it can happen even if it is not taken out. I had to agree with him ,then I told him that I have an interview scheduled on the next day and would not be able o visit the store on the following day. He persuaded me that I had to visit the store. Then when I asked him what if the its not due to the physical damage, who will be responsible for all the calls and texts that I am not going to receive till the issue is resolved. It is his response that surprised me he told me that whatever the personal loss that may happen due to the network failure Airtel will not take any responsibility even if the network issue is not because of physical damage. I had to request the interviewer to call me on my Jio number. Then today (12/11/2021) I visited near by Airtel store which is located in Kuthuparamba near State Bank of India, Kuthuparamba branch. When I mentioned the issue to the staff there she instantly told me that I have to apply for a Duplicate sim she did even care to check whether there is an physical damage (as suggested by the customer care rep). When i asked why there was no prior notice or intimation of any sort, she mentioned there wont be any. I told her that it is wrong that I have given that number in my resume and it is updated with my Bank account, Aadhar, PAN card etc she rudely screamed at ‘How can the company know for what all purpose you are using the SIM’ and ignored me that I have to come with my father, with whom the sim is registered, to get the SIM and resolve the issue.
What hurt me the most is this kind of behavior and ignorance that a customer has to take from these executives. They way they speak indicates that the company only care whether you are recharging or not. They have zero empathy towards the customers who have to face a lot if issues and inconvenience due the sudden network failure and this kind of de activation of SIM card. I want a response from the Company why they are not giving any intimation to the customer that the SIM card is going to be deactivated or if we have to take duplicate sim for a non delayed network, if they are ready to sent SMS and call customers if their plan is going to expire. Why don’t they care to inform the customer when they are recharging or subscribing a new plan that they have to take a Duplicate sim to uninterrupted service. I would like to ask them why the customer has to swallow all the loses and inconvenience that he has to go through before the issue is resolved, or receiving a duplicate sim in my case which may take take minimum 24 hours to get activated. Why do we have to face such rude behavior form their representatives even after subscribing to their network and for all the amount of money we have spent on recharges. What action will they take against them?
An apology wont erase the pain and shame that I had to go through due to the words from the Customer service representative in the call center and the lady at the Airtel Store.
