This is in the reference of fraud happening in the name of Amazon
A cursory search for “Amazon Customer Care Number” on Google shows 9563946022 listed as the Customer Care number.
Upon calling this number, the person “verified” an Order number and then asked to install ‘AnyDesk’ App on mobile phone to resolve the issue.
The App was then installed on iPhone and the IP Address shared upon his insistence, upon which the fraudster commented that it will not work on iPhone, and asked to install in any Android phone and share the IP Address.
Upon becoming suspicious about such a request, we immediately hung up and deleted the app from iPhone also.
The fraudster started calling back and when we confronted him that this looks fraud and is not genuine Amazon service, he started threatening with dire consequences.
We realized that this is a fraudster who was trying to steal our Bank Details, and immediately reported the matter to the police.
We also reported the matter to Twitter feed @AmazonIn with the screenshots (no response/acknowledgement of this via. Twitter yet).
Please take up this matter with utmost seriousness to its logical conclusion.
Though there was momentary lapse of judgement in identifying a fake customer care number, we expect Amazon to tackle this issue of phishing, especially when the customer care number, i.e. the first point of contact itself can mislead gullible users who would use Google Search to reach Amazon Customer Care number.

1. the screenshots of the Google Search showing the fraud number (it appears that this is appearing in Lucknow region based search on Google),
2. screenshot of the calls received by the fraudster, and
3. the image of Invoice for which we tried to reach out.
