I recently came across a Facebook post claiming that Amazon was hiring full-time and part-time employees. Intrigued by the opportunity, I followed the instructions provided and found myself involved in what now seems to be a pyramid scheme.
The individuals behind this scheme are using a WhatsApp contact with the number +94 77 300 4952, identifying themselves as “Daphne from Amazon Customer Service.” They have been requesting personal information, such as my name, age, and current job, under the guise of enlisting my assistance in commodity trading.
Furthermore, I was asked to open an Amazon account through a link (https://h5.upimps.vip/#/entry/register?ref=168772), after which they recharged my account with Rs.600. Subsequently, I was given tasks to complete, and upon doing so, my account balance increased to Rs.1000. I was then instructed to withdraw this amount to my bank account, which I did after keeping Rs.500 in the account.
As the tasks progressed, I was directed to contact a person named “Amazon Alice” via Telegram (https://t.me/Amazon1Alice ) to continue with further tasks. The demands escalated, requiring me to recharge my account multiple times with significant amounts (total of Rs.132,050). Ultimately, I was coerced into making a payment of Rs.174,258 for the final task, which involved the purchase of a garbage bin for an exorbitant price.
It was at this point that I began to realize the nature of this scheme and that it was not a legitimate job opportunity but a pyramid scheme. The purchases being made were manipulated to deceive participants and exploit their financial contributions.
