I got multiple bot calls at midnight from simpl for confirmation that someone was trying to change the number of my account and of course, I opted for ‘No’. Immediately I could see simpl notifs of multiple debits from Zomato (the only place where I have my simpl account linked ). A more worrisome thing is that my Zomato history doesn’t have any orders.
I got in touch with simpl Help Center. They are saying that my transaction was verified via an OTP on-call and must’ve been done by some family members having access to my phone. I live aLoan and nobody accessed my phone at midnight for OTP access of course. They are demanding call recordings of the call, and I don’t store recordings on my phone ( usually the company calling should have all the recordings so I don’t know why they need it from me ). They are also demanding screenshots of the order page from the merchant from where the transactions were made, and as I stated earlier there is no transaction on my Zomato app then don’t know what should I share with them.
My account was compromised from Simpl’s side and they are not giving prompt responses to my queries. I am waiting 2 days before getting a response for each message every time.
I had the same thing happened but to my surprise, the calls were from my own number which I never heard from anyone rather faced by me too in the past. I didn`t attend those but received again today morning. when I attended the above content (user has reported) was heard but I disconnected again without pressing any number. In a short while, I deactivated my Simpl account.
When I checked with my telecom operator, they told these are kind of advanced technology scams going around. Moreover, they replied that they do not maintain any records for incoming calls but asking me to raise a complaint with nearest police station as this need to be taken forward by Cyber cell. Weirdly, my phone also did not record those incoming calls (still dont understand how). Be careful as there are lots of scams in different colors going on nowadays through out the country.
