I had ordered Dell Vostro 3405. It has been less than a year since I am using it, I have already faced numerous issues on the laptop. Sometimes the body heats up and sometimes the mouse trackpad doesn’t work.
And now there are scratches on the inner parts of the laptop and also on the screen of the laptop (a straight horizontal line). These scratches are not because of my fault. The laptop is made in such a way that everytime I close the laptop, the keyboard rub’s against the screen, thereby leading to the horizonal scratch on the screen. Further, alongside the borders of the LED Display, there is a plastic frame that pops up a little. Because of this frame, whenever i close the laptop, it rubs against the body (panel on which keyboard is fitted) , thereby causing the scratches.
When contacted the customer care, they give a reply stating that this is caused by the normal wear and tear and not because of any manufacturing defect and hence it can’t be covered under warranty (I still have 3 months of warranty left).
Here, I’d like to point out that apart from using Dell Vostro 3405, I’ve used numerous other laptops and I have never faced such an issue, wherein closing the laptop causes scratches on the screen and the body.
The reason of these scratches are the design of the product and not because of normal wear and tear. Had the laptop been designed properly, there wouldn’t have been any such issues. Accordingly, this case should fall under manufacturing defect and I should be eligible for replacement of the screen and the body.
Here I am able to upload only 1 image, but i have many more images if required.
