I recently received an offer to work part-time for data entry by a company called INGBJobs. https://ingbjob.com/. The job was to type 500 forms in 5 days and they would pay INR 35/- per page. On failure to complete the task within 5 days, they said a penalty would be charged. Also, a one-time fee of INR 6000/- would be either deducted from the first payment made. One of their executives called me and asked me to open a link and sign an agreement while remaining on the call. The contract was supposed to be visible on the link and I was supposed to sign on an empty box below it. But the page kept loading and the agreement was not visible. When I told this to the executive, she said it was because of my internet troubles, although I didn’t have any internet troubles. After a second the page just reloaded and vanished and I got an email from them containing an agreement that was supposedly signed by me (But the signature was some random one). All of this happened too soon to comprehend.
I went online after this to find reviews of INGBJobs and was shocked to check several complaints and reviews filed against them, where people are complaining of threats & harassment by their lawyers to pay INR 7000/- despite finishing the work in an acceptable manner.
This has been an ongoing fraud where people are targeted under the pretext of convenient work-from-home opportunities and then are threatened with legal action unless they pay the “penalty” imposed.
Please advise on what measures can be taken in this situation and if the legal action taken by them has any validity.
