I have a savings account in SBI. A cheque was submitted to it by my client who has a current account in BOI. He has sufficient balance for the cheque clearance and received a message from BOI stating the cheque is due for clearance today morning. Today evening my SBI account shows the cheque would not be honoured because “drawer’s signature’s not as per mandategure differ’. And SBI charged me money for that. I was not contacted by the bank in any way. Why am I being charged for someone else putting money in my account? And if there is signture issue shouldn’t it be brought up by my client’s bank to him? Why would BOI accept the cheque and show ‘ due for clearance’ if the signaturehad some issue?
