Text of Complaint by Sandwip Ray:

Dear Sir, This has the reference to my police complaint I had filed on 31st July at around 11.30 night atC.R.Park police station regarding the Online fraud happened with me. The amount of Rs. 1, 74,291/- has been debited by some unknown person pretending to be the PNB representative of the bank I am holding a saving account at C.R.Park, New Delhi branch.
The incident started with an SMS I received from a registered SMS portal of PNB stating” Dear Customer request received for disabling of SMS service in your account is in process ( REFNo. 3794441891) if not requested by you please forward this SMS to 9264092640 from registered mobile number to freez account within 4 hours of receipt this SMS-PNB”.
After receiving this SMS I was bit worried and called up PNB’s toll free number taking out the number from internet. While searching the customer care number I could see two numbers as mentioned 18001802222 & the other number was 180041202927. Since the first number was not connecting with a great worry I called up the second number I mentioned. The second number got connected & I could hear the voice of a man introducing himself being the person from PNB customer care . I explained regarding the SMS I received from their bank portal. He asked me to stay connected over the phone saying that another representative of the bank from the concerned department to address this issue would call up. While I was staying connected I received a call from another number +91 8598016303 and a person introducing him as a PNB representative was talking to me from the concerned department was online to address my issue. I again explained my problem I was having with the SMS I received in the evening. He checked my date of birth & telephone number which usually being asked by all banks before imitating any conversation over the phone. He confirmed the last three digit of my saving accounts number which he already had. Please note he did not confirm the entire savings account number or any of the bank detail. He only asked me to stay online and said I would be receiving OTP’s which is not to be shared only the customer needs to be on line. I kept on receiving multiple SMS’s of OTP’s from the PNB SMS portal such as VK PNBSMS AX-PNBSMS, AD-PNBSMS VM-PNBSMS. I only confirmed the last three digits of my account and nothing was shared to him only when he asked me to share the OTP he was sending at the later part of his conversation & then I retaliated stating that for such a simple issue why he is sending so many SMS’s & now asking for the OTP detail ? Then all of a sudden he disconnected the line and I could see a debit of Rs. 1, 74291/- accrued from my saving account. He was insisting to share the OTP of the SMS in which a debit of the said amount was reflecting. I did not share the OTP but the amount got debited. I immediately went to the police station lodged a complaint spoke to the PNB customer care explaining the incident & they filed a complaint against this fraud. The complaint number registered to the Bank is: A166694601. Surprisingly now the toll free number which was showing along with the other number of PNB customer care is not showing now when I checked to find out the number from the internet . The person who was communicating with me as a PNB representative called up from +91 8598016303. He was talking from this number now which is switched off. This is a clear case of online fraud for which I would request you to file an FIR and help me recover my savings which has been washed away in no time. I have not shared any of the OTP’s . Without my knowledge the said amount got debited.
I need help so that the money is recovered. Thanks
