I went to Chintamani Rural Police Station on 26th of June 2025 for my Passport verification. It was for my Passport renewal. Though, I answered all their questions honestly and provided all the necessary documents, I was asked to pay the fees (Bribe). I denied paying the bribe and said the person in the police station that, we are not supposed to pay any fees for the passport verification and it’s also mentioned in the passport seva kendra’s portal. I insisted him to write a letter for me, describing why I need to pay the fees so that I can provide this letter to Passport office. He denied providing the letter to me. I have also made a recording of our conversation in the police station. I wish that this person who asked me to pay bribe, must be punished. My cousin was also threatened to pay the bribe when he had been to the same police station approximately 3 months ago. Suitable action must be taken against the person who’s collecting bribe in the name of fees in Chintamani Rural Police Station.
