Text of Complaint by omkar Salunkhe:

I’ve been dealing with recently regarding my OnePlus 9 Pro smartphone, which I purchased on June 10, 2022, through Amazon.

About a week ago, I noticed a significant issue with my device – a prominent green line appeared on the display. At that time, OnePlus had announced a scheme to repair such issues free of charge, which gave me hope for a quick resolution.

I took my device to the OnePlus service center located on Murbad Road, Kalyan, for repair. However, after several days of waiting, I received a receipt from the service center stating that my device couldn’t be repaired due to a mismatching IMEI number. This decision came as a shock to me, as neither OnePlus’s warranty terms nor their lifetime free screen replacement policy had mentioned any such condition for refurbished devices.

This situation has resulted in a substantial financial loss of INR 17,600 for me, as OnePlus is refusing to repair the device under warranty despite the issue being directly related to a software update or other OnePlus-related factors.

What’s even more frustrating is that I had been continuously following up with OnePlus customer support, and they had given me assurances that the issue would be resolved and that I would receive a replacement. However, the next day, I was informed that they were not going to repair it. This inconsistency and lack of communication have added to my frustration.

Furthermore, when I attempted to seek help from OnePlus customer care to address this issue, they refused to assist, disconnected the call, and provided no resolution. Unfortunately, my experience with Amazon customer care mirrored this, as they also refused to help.

I find myself questioning whether it was my fault for purchasing a product that Amazon is selling or for updating my OnePlus device, which ultimately led to its damage. These experiences have left me deeply disappointed and feeling unsupported by both OnePlus and Amazon.

I’ve since initiated a legal complaint against both OnePlus and Amazon to address this issue and seek a fair resolution. I believe that both companies should take responsibility for selling a faulty product and ensure that customers receive proper warranty coverage and support.
