I , Ranjith Madhavan, had sought admission for my daughter at Deens Academy Whitefield for the Humanities Stream in 11th standard academic year 2022-2023. As was required by the policy, I had paid a tuition fee of Rs 89000 and a transportation fee of Rs 25000 prior to the commencement of the term. My daughter attended classes for 2 days in the month of May, after which we cancelled the admission in the school. Several emails were sent to the school requesting for the refund of fees and transportation costs after deducting the overhead charges incurred by the school. An amicable attempt from our side to reach a pacific compromise was opposed by the blatant refusal of the school to reimburse the fees. The school declined without any negotiation to refund even a part of the tuition fee citing that the cancellation had to happen before the classes started. It is to be noted that the classes started only 2 days prior and the vacant seat would be sure to get filled. Mention must also be made of the fact that the school commenced the classes for 11th standard on 20th May, even before the board exams for grade 10 had gotten over(24th May). The school refunded only 50% of the transportation fees even though transport services were scheduled to commence in the month of June, thus implying that the service was not used on the two days in May when she attended the classes.
