This has been a repetitive occurrence with Swiggy, where the company accepts orders, without having sufficient delivery partners to deliver the food. The service which swiggy provides is at home delivery of food prepared by restaurants. There have been multiple instances where food is prepared but swiggy is unable to allocate delivery partner.
Moreover, even after searching for delivery partner for over an hour swiggy doesn’t let one cancel the order with option of full refund.
It’s only when customer has wasted 1-2 hours of their time following up with swiggy’s agents that’s when swiggy allows the customer to cancel the order. Should there not be laws protecting consumers to avail the benefit of cancelling the order with full refund option if the same is not delivered within the estimated time provided by Swiggy? Why does companies like Swiggy enjoy breach of service without repercussions? What is the reasonable time allowable to them for fulfilling their service?
Also, when I had raised this concern over email, I was re-routed 4 times by assigning 4 different request numbers and not actually addressing the issue of “wasting my time” at ” 1 am in the night” and not providing adequate compensation for breach of service. Mere refunding the order amount is not sufficient, if cancellation is delayed by an hour. Moreover, this is not the first time such instance has happened.
Even Zomato does the same.
If the companies do not have delivery partners they should not even accept orders and give people a fair chance to check for alternates !!
