Text of Complaint by Abin Tom Sebastian:

On January 29th, 2023, I purchased a Moto G52 smartphone along with the extended warranty and complete mobile protection plan as suggested by Flipkart. However, after only 5 months of use, a green line suddenly appeared on the right side of the phone’s display. Interestingly, the line would fade out after a minute of usage.

To avoid voiding the warranty, I decided not to get the phone repaired immediately from a local repair shop (barely 5 mins away) and instead contacted Flipkart. Their executive advised me to return the phone, considering it was still under warranty (excluding the additional warranties and complete protection plan I purchased). I carefully packaged the product, ensuring it was securely wrapped, and handed it over to the Bluedart executive who came to collect it. The phone was returned in its original packaging, as I had concerns about the lack of a cardboard box for transportation. I specifically used the original case for the return. This occurred on July 11th. Today, July 15th, I received an email from Protect_Jeeves stating that the device has “liquid damage” and is now considered out of warranty. To make matters worse, they are requesting an additional 1000 rupees to fix it.

This situation is highly unacceptable because not only is the device still under warranty, but I also paid an extra 600 rupees to ensure its safety. I can confidently state that the device was never exposed to water or any other liquid, as Jeeves claims it is. There was not a single instance where it was introduced to such an environment. It is extremely disappointing and frankly insulting that this issue is being attributed to my own error. The problem I initially encountered was a light green line appearing on the right side of the display, which would fade away after a minute of usage. Since I handed over the product to the Bluedart executive in its original casing, I have no knowledge of how they handled the device during transit. A simple Google search would show you that this is a recurring issue with the G52 model.

This is the exact issue that I faced: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/moto-g-5G-2022/Getting-Green-Line-issue-on-Moto-G52/m-p/5188329 https://www.lifewire.com/fix-green-line-android-phone-5509491

The issue is a manufacturing defect, and you can view other similar complaints at the Indian Consumer Court here: https://consumercomplaintscourt.com/green-lines-across-the-display-of-motorola-g52-mobile-phone/

Same issue (read comments as well): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWKEoiBNN7A

I need assistance on this hardware issue that seems to be affecting thousands of people across India. People need to come forward and boycott this faulty product.

Sincerely,

Abin Tom Sebastian
