I kindly request your assistance in providing legal advice regarding the following situation:
An employee employed at Nakshatra Marriage, a matrimonial bureau, sent me an image and biodata of a girl without providing a contact number. The image appeared to be computer-generated, raising suspicions about its authenticity. Subsequently, the employee requested my personal information to forward it to the girl’s family.
Later, the employee contacted me via phone and informed me that the girl’s family expressed interest in me based on my biodata. They then requested an initial registration fee of Rs. 6000 (paid on April 9th, 2023) to initiate communication with the family. Emphasizing that the girl had already made her payment, they stressed the importance of promptly paying the registration fee. Additionally, they mentioned that if I were to get married through their bureau, I would receive a partial refund of the registration fee, along with free access to their database.
After making the payment, the employee provided me with a phone number for the girl, which turned out to be fraudulent. The girl did not respond to any messages or calls, except for one call at an unusual hour. Despite numerous attempts to contact her afterwards, she did not answer or reply.
When I requested a refund, the manager insisted that I needed to meet the girl at any cost.
I am seeking your assistance in pursuing appropriate legal action against Nakshatra Marriage.
