This complaint is in reference to an order placed for the ‘LG G8X Dual screen’, dated February 24, 2021. This was a gift for my dad’s 70th birthday. However, after a few days of having the mobile, my dad started facing issues with it. Listed below are the issues:
1) Charging on this new mobile would take 6-7 hours;
2) While receiving calls, if he folded the mobile, the speaker would turn on;
3) Consistent sound issues.
Towards the end of June 2021, my dad realised that the volume buttons have stopped working altogether and the left screen also wouldn’t work. So, he contacted the LG customer service, to find a service centre in Thane and was given a number for a service centre in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.
My father personally went there and met technician Mr. Sushil Sharma, who informed him that he would be unable to provide the necessary repairs as the handset does not hold a warranty although it was purchased online. Also, he did state that one of the 2-piece mobile is an older model. The repairs would cost my dad a lot of money when it should not. The solution given to my dad was to stop using the left screen altogether and continue using the mobile as a one screen mobile, although it is a dual screen mobile.
The whole ordeal has been painstaking and excruciating. Gifting my dad something for him to enjoy has turned into a nightmare. Request you to kindly check and let us know what we can do about this.
