Complaint Against: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.
Service Type: Telecom / OTT Bundle Plan
Recharge Plan: ₹859 (90 Days Disney+ Hotstar Subscription – Mobile + TV)
Complaint Details:
I am filing this complaint against Jio (Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.) for misleading and deceptive service regarding the ₹859 prepaid plan.
I recharged my Jio number with ₹859, which explicitly mentions that it includes a 90-day subscription to Disney+ Hotstar for both Mobile and TV access. Clearly Stated in the screenshot i provided.
For the past 3 months, everything worked as advertised — I was able to watch on my smart TV and the plan allowed streaming on up to 2 devices.
However, after my latest recharge, I can:
No longer access Disney+ Hotstar on TV — it shows a message saying “Upgrade to Watch”.
The account now reflects a 1-device limit, despite the plan still being marketed as supporting TV usage.
This is false advertising and a breach of consumer rights. The plan is still being advertised as Mobile + TV, which is deceptive. Many users are likely being misled and denied the full value of the plan they paid for.
Resolution Requested:
Immediate restoration of promised TV access to Disney+ Hotstar as per the plan.
Correction of the misleading information shown in the app and website.
If the benefits have been changed, a full public disclosure and pro-rated compensation or refund should be issued.
I have contacted Jio support and did not receive a satisfactory resolution. Hence, I am escalating this complaint to the consumer forum.
