Text of Complaint by Cynthia:

I was contacted by a supposed recruiter who supposedly was led to me thru Indeed.
I thought it might be a scam but wasn’t sure so I went ahead and began completing tasks as instructed. They deposited $10 into my account for each of the first two tasks. The next several tasks were worth $1.50 each which they deposited once I reached $6. The tasks were to click the YouTube links that were sent, give them a like, screenshot and send them the screenshot. After just a handful of these, they then wanted ME to pay $36 or more for some sort of bitcoin thing and they would then supposedly return the $ plus a 30% commission.
I told them it sounds a scam because when I work for someone, I don’t pay them; they pay me. I did NOT pay them. They said I could not receive future tasks until I do that one.
Elk, the scam stops here! Makes me sick that they are taking advantage of so many people. I should have stuck with my gut.
I’m glad I figured it out early enough and I HOPE they don’t now have access to my account and drain it. Any recommendations on what I should do to protect my bank account and my phone data?
Thank you so much!

  1. This job is from Publicis Groupe, headquartered in Paris, France. In the United States, Publicis Groupe has offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas. Through the Publicis Groupe platform, products can gain more sales and exposure as a form of advertising. The working hours are from 11 AM to 12 midnight Eastern Time. You can work at any time and place. You only need a phone or computer to complete the work. Job description: You need to log in to the work platform every day and use real data to update merchant and product information. This helps merchants improve their rankings and product reviews on the Publicis Groupe platform. It can increase customer visits, orders, and help merchants advertise and find potential customers. In simple terms, it is like using YouTube or TikTok. These platforms recommend videos with high views and like. The more popular a video is, the more it is shown, and the creator gains more followers. It works the same way here. Now you have $64 in your account, and you only need to add $36 to meet this condition. This is for the system to identify your real IP and confirm that you are a real person. After you complete the reset, complete 30 orders again and withdraw all the funds in your account.
AI replied: Charles, this job description raises multiple red flags that strongly suggest it’s a scam impersonating Publicis Groupe:
    🚩 Why This Looks Suspicious
Upfront payment request: Asking you to “add $36” to verify your identity is a classic scam tactic. Legitimate employers never ask for money to start work.
Too-good-to-be-true setup: Flexible hours, minimal requirements, and guaranteed earnings are often used to lure people into fraudulent schemes.
No official platform: Publicis Groupe does not operate a public-facing “product ranking” platform like YouTube or TikTok. Their business is in advertising and media—not crowdsourced product boosting.
No verifiable job listing: This job does not appear on Publicis Groupe’s official careers page, and similar scams have been reported online Charles, this job description raises multiple red flags that strongly suggest it’s a scam impersonating Publicis Groupe:
