Text of Complaint by Ankit Nevatia:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you regarding the behaviour of your representatives, who contacted me after my previous complaint.

Two Jio technicians had come to my house to see the issue with my router, that I had written about in detail in my last email, and after speaking to them they informed me that, the new routers don’t have a range /proximity for the wifi as good as the old router had, that was replaced with my current one through the fraudent way of your fraudulent employee Newton Seikh (ph. no. 6291802531) about whom, I had already given details in my previous mail of which I have attached a copy below.

After the representative from your company who visited my place gave a update to his seniors, your Sales Manager from the Reliance Jio Park Street branch by the name of Bhaskar Chanda called me up saying, he had the contract my place of residence. I proceeded to tell him the issue and the fraud that was done with me and also tried to explain him in proper detail, the issue that I was facing and he in return clearly stated that he is very well known, and has proper updates about the frauds this Mr. Newton has done at various places with numerous clients and because of which he has been already fired from his job, and after knowing all the truth and the facts , Mr. Bhaska straight away refused to take any responsibility or liability for the actions of an employee that was under his supervision and all he said was that Newton Seikh (ph. no. 6291802531) was fired around a month ago, because of his such numerous fraudent matters, and so now nothing can be done, He even admitted that he knew of the fraudulent actions of his employee. I am attaching the recording of my conversation with Bhaskar Chanda below, Your company Jio is in the service industry and if your employees are speaking to customers in such ways and saying a fraud done by his employee is the customers fault, he needs to be strictly dealt with. I was also informed that this is not the first time Newton Seikh has done such a fraud, I can only imagine how Bhasker Chanda spoke to the other customers who had complained for Newton to him, if this is how he was speaking to me.

He also told me that to rectify this fraud done by his junior reporting employee, I will have to pay Rs.2500/- (1000 for reinstallation and 1500 as a Security Deposit for the Router).

He refused to take any responsibility and rather, asked me to pay this, to convert to pre-paid which I already had and it was changed to post-paid without my knowledge.

I fail to understand that Government has given such a big responsibility and a license to such a big reputed company, and have employees round the country, and everywhere round the country, your representatives are visiting residential and commercial places, if anywhere round the country, any criminal offence takes place by a jio representative, will the company have no responsibility, accept to fire that employee, or take Away the job. Does the responsibility ends there???

Here in my case the fraud was surely done by Mr. Newton, but where did my payment go, Did Mr. Newton took away cash from me and go, or was it your company, who received the payment.

If Jio as a company is receiving payments at end, than how come, your company doesn’t hold any responsibility for anything.

Why should I pay this amount? Your company needs to rectify this situation and deal with these employees properly and strictly. I will be forwarding this same email and all the attachments to the PMO’s office and TRAI.

As per technicians who visited my place and Bhaskar Chanda, I need to get an extender for the router, as the new router you have in rotation does not have such a good range and for that also he was charging extra. I need you to rectify my situation and change my connection back to pre paid from post paid and i will not be paying anything as it was not my fault, rather your representative has done a fraud with us, and also the installation of the extender, for which I will not be paying anything, as because the router which was already in use previously, was working fine, and there were no issues for any range connectivity , and this was a proper cheating and fraud done by your company representative.

I received a second phone call from a different representative of yours, who’s recording I will be attaching below.

This representative of yours agreed with my point of view, after I explained my issue to him again and I informed him of Bhaskar Chanda’s behaviour and asked him to speak to his higher ups and have him dealt with.

Please get back to me with a reply, as-in when and how are you installing a new router with prepaid connection and installing the extenders, as in where required in my house, please get this done as soon as possible and please also deal with your employees and train them to behave in a humane way.

If my issues are not solved immediately, I will make sure to circulate this matter as far as possible, to get justice and educate and warn common people, about the replies which are been given by jio representatives after any fraud / criminal offences takes place.

I will also write to PMO’s office, Trai and also to Consumer Forum.

Thanking you,
Ankit Nevatia
