I am writing with deep disappointment and pain regarding a terrible transaction that made me the victim of the fraud via Jet Airways.
I had booked a ticket using the services of CheapOair.com for a round trip from Hyderabad to Atlanta on Marc 21, 2019. The transaction was via a debit card. Few days before the travel date (April 14, 2019), I was told by CheapOair officials that the flight was canceled and the Jet Airways suspended their services. I spoke to CheapOair officials on phone and they assured me that they had canceled my booking and requested for a refund from Jet Airways. It was further communicated to me by them that the refund was issued and completed and that I had to wait for 1-3 billing cycles to receive the amount. I waited for the time but the money wasn’t refunded to my account, even though the CheapOair website still stated that the refund was completed. I contacted them again and they told me that Jet Airways filed for bankruptcy and I should contact my bank immediately to file a dispute claim. When I went to the bank, they told me that the 60-day windows from the date of the transaction have passed and they can no longer process anything.
When I notified CheapOair again and spoke to their officials again, they refused to help. All they had to say was “SORRY.” I appreciate their sympathy through this, but the word sorry is not going to solve anything and give me back my $1048.83. They clearly misguided me and refused to take responsibility. I wouldn’t have waited if they hadn’t assured me that refund was completed and that I should wait for 1-3 billing cycles. If they hadn’t told me to follow this step instinctively, I would have notified the bank much earlier within the 60-day window.
I am at my wit’s end and profoundly impacted by this mishap.
