Text of Complaint by Alvin Mario:

I placed an order for a IOS smartphone on Flipkart on 8th Oct 2023. I selected the option ‘Pay with EMI’ at the time of purchase. However, the complete payment was taken off my card. I was in a confirmation that it would get converted to EMI, since I made the purchase using ‘pay with EMI option.’ On 16th Oct 2023 I received the bank statement with the full amount needs to be paid before the given date. I contacted the bank and they mentioned it was already billed & they cannot convert it to EMI and asked to contact Flipkart, as they can do it.

I called and spoke to a rep on 16th Oct 2023 at Flipkart and she was a level 1 agent. Therefore, I asked to escalate to a supervisor. I spoke to a supervisor on the same day, she asked me to wait till 17th Oct 2023 and it should automatically convert to EMI. She also stated that “ if it does not get converted to EMI automatically” she asked to call back on 18th Oct 2023 and “Flipkart can get it converted to EMI manually.”

I called back on 18th Oct 2023, spoke to a rep and she mentioned she will arrange a call back from the Superior Team and they would contact in 2hrs. No one called in 2 hrs!!

Later, they tried calling. However, there was no resolution provided. A rep named Shilpa from the Superior Team called on 22nd Oct 2023 and mentioned that she will escalate it to the concerned team to get it converted to EMI and the call got disconnected when I was placed on hold.

On 23rd Oct 2023 morning a rep called and asked what was the issue and said to raise another ticket in the Flipkart application & the respective team would call. I did! No one called again!!

I called Flipkart the same evening (23rd Oct 2023), spoke for 45 mins to a level 1 rep and later was told I’m being transferred to a supervisor after 45 mins. A woman named Vaishali stated she was a supervisor and when I mentioned to fix the issue she stated that she was a senior representative from the escalation team and did not have access to do anything.

I was on call for over an hour and Vaishali placed the call on hold and later released the hold to say she did not have access to escalate to anyone from any team and slowly hung up the call.

I’m penalised to make the entire payment because of the Flipkart’s application issue. I was told by 2 reps it can be converted to EMI. Now they are saying they don’t have access and other silly reasons. Each one has a weird answer!!

I’m not pressurising that I want compensation or I need the device for free because of Flipkart’s issue. All I’m saying is I need this converted to EMI as I opted at the time of purchase and I’m good to go!
