In 2019, I had subscribed to a service of Tata Sky (My subscriber id = 1041689330) called Tata Sky Binge, where they provided a device called Amazon Firestick at a monthly rental fee of Rs 259. I have been paying this amount on a regular basis since 2019, even during the pandemic when I didn’t use the service for several months. Please note that market price of this device is Rs. 2999.
Around 23rd August I had requested to discontinue with this service since this device was an obsolete device and when I asked the customer care to replace it with a new one, they refused. I returned everything that I had with respect to the device – the fire tv stick, remote, power adapter, cord – to the concerned person on 25th August.
Post this a call comes to me on 27th August citing that they have only received the tv stick and the remote. On repeatedly letting them know that I don’t have anything else with me, and that I had submitted everything, they forcibly cut a fee of Rs 1200 from my account saying that some adapter that they had given me costs Rs 1200.
My submission to this is the following –
1. I have already returned everything that I had and there is no documentation from their end as to what all has been received by them
2. When they gave me the device in 2019, there was no documentation as to what all parts of the device they had given me, so any which ways I am not liable to any theft allegations.
3. The whole device costs 2999, how can the adapter aloan cost 1200 ?
4. I have been paying Rs. 259 every month, so in reality I have given them their cost of the device multiple times, I should not have to pay anything extra anyways.
Now even after multiple calls with their customer care representatives, there seems to be no resolution to my problem. I even asked them to remove my subscription, and they have refused to do that too. I am afraid they will add some more fines and fees in future and hence need this resolution asap.
