Text of Complaint by Dibya Pratibha Surin:

Initial contacts were done by me with the correspondent of the said hotel/lodge named “Vikkyz Homestay” with the given adress, 101 Ghoom Sukhia Road, P.O-Ghoom Near Ghoom Girls High School, Ghoom, West Bengal 734102, to make booking for 3 rooms on the said date of 30th March 2023. The correspondent demanded 50% of the booking amount to a phone number 9461538293 to book rooms initially.
On hearing the amount I declined the offer and disconnected the call. The correspondent called back and offered to do the booking at Rs.2000.
I agreed to pay the offered amount and for which I was given a number to which the said amount had to be sent to make the bookings.
On succesfully sending the amount of Rs 2000, the correspondent intimitated me of a transaction failure. On asking how was it that the transaction failed when clearly the amount has been deducted from my bank account. The correspondent explained that it was mistake on his side as the whole amount of 50% of the total amount has to be paid to secure booking, and suggested the I send the remaining amount of Rs 3000.
I agreed and sent the remaining Rs 3000.
The correspondent called again to let me know that the transaction failed again since Rs5000 had to be paid for a successful transaction.
I inquired that the amount sent by me must have been received by the hotel since it had been deducted from my side, to which he said that the amount has been received by their system but the system was unable to generate a booking slip since the system will accept only the said amount of Rs5000.
So I requested the correspondent to return me the earlier amount of Rs2000 and Rs3000 to which the correspondent said the fund was within the system and the correspondent cannot make a personal return payment and that I should complete the transaction of Rs10000 if I didn’t wanted to let the payments made earlier to go to waste, to which i agreed to pay the remaining amount.
The correspondent sent me a UPI QR Code to make a payment, the UPI being 9461538293@paytm and owned by Sunil Das. The correspondent said the amount will be Rs4999.
With the hope to get things right I immediately paid Rs4999 to the above UPI ID.
This time another correspondent had called me back saying the earlier person who was corresponding with me had no idea of the operating procedure and that the booking amount for 3 bedrooms for 3 days will amount to Rs6682.
A long quarrel ensued between me and the correspondent after which he accepted mistake from his side and agreed to return the whole amount paid by me if I make the correct amount which would allow him to secure the whole amount.
Finding no other option i decided to believe the hotel correspondent and make the final payment of Rs6682, i confirmed with the correspondent the right amount that had to be paid this time to which he repeated that the amount which he had mentioned earlier i.e., Rs 6682 was the exact amount to be paid
The moment the payment succeeded the correspondent called back and with a rude tone said that I paid the wrong amount, and the right amount which had to be paid was Rs 6282 to which I got the bitter shock of realization that i have been duped of my hard earned money.
With broken heart I requested the correspondent to return back my money with the least hope, but all i received was denial.
The next day, another senior staff contacted me with a different contact number describing me that he was away the other day and on arrival to the hotel got the gist of all happenings of the last day from the last and to solve my problem he promised to return the amount to me.
But like the day before he too demanded additional Rs3531 so that he would be able to return me the whole amount altogether. Having had a traumatic experience the day before I humbly declined his offer, and that the best way to proceed would be through a legal way.
