Mobikwik has been relentlessly pursuing me and harassing me for a loan that was taken by a stranger, someone I don’t even know! It all began one morning with an unexpected call from a representative claiming to be from Mobikwik. She inquired if I was familiar with a person by a certain name, to which I responded that I wasn’t. What followed was an abrupt shift in her demeanor; she grew rude and started shouting, alleging that this individual had obtained a loan from them and listed my number as a guarantor, insisting that I must pay. I was taken aback and asked, “Who is this person? Do you grant loans based on random numbers as guarantors and then harass people like this?” She raised her voice again, and I ended the call. The calls persisted, and I reluctantly picked up once more, only to be subjected to further abuse, with the statements like “the borrower must be your husband”, with demands to have my husband pay up—except, I’m not even married! I have no connection to the person who borrowed money from Mobikwik! Who authorized them to harass me like this?

Upon conducting some online research, I discovered that Mobikwik provides loans to individuals and somehow obtains their entire contact list from their phones. If they fail to repay, Mobikwik employs individuals (like the impolite lady who called me) to contact and harass everyone in their contact list. This implies that if I had shared my number with this individual at any point in my life (which is common for work and social reasons), Mobikwik would subject us to harassment and abuse. Is it legal for them to access someone’s entire contact list? Is it legal to reach out to unrelated individuals and harass them?

I urgently require this complaint to reach the appropriate authorities so that this unethical and potentially illegal harassment by Mobikwik can be stopped. I am attaching screenshots of some of the numbers from which I received these harassment calls.
