I am writing to lodge a serious grievance against Reliance Jio regarding the discontinuance of my mobile number 8788478166 without any prior intimation or consent, and its subsequent allocation to another individual who is misusing the number for posting fake and misleading content on social media.
Details of the Issue:
My Jio mobile number8788478166 was deactivated / discontinued on 21/09/2025 without any prior notice, SMS, or call from your side.
The same number was shockingly re-allotted to another customer. This person is actively posting false and misleading content (fake news) using that number, which not only harms public interest but also causes me severe distress, mental agony, and reputational risk since many of my contacts still associate that number with me.
When I approached Jio customer care and your grievance cell, the issue was not handled properly. The executives failed to provide a clear explanation, nor did they escalate the matter in a professional manner.
Key Concerns:
Unfair Trade Practice & Deficiency of Service: Discontinuing and reallocating my number without notice is a clear deficiency in service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Negligence: Mishandling of my grievance by Jio representatives reflects poor redressal mechanisms.
Reputational Damage: Misuse of my number by another customer has exposed me to potential defamation, loss of credibility, and social harassment.
Relief Sought:
I request the following urgent actions from Reliance Jio:
Immediate investigation into wrongful discontinuance and reallocation of my number.
Written clarification as to how and why my number was allotted to another customer without my consent.
Coordination with relevant authorities to prevent misuse of the number for spreading fake news.
Compensation for mental agony, harassment, and reputational damage caused to me due to your negligence.
Strict disciplinary action against the executives who mishandled my grievance.
