I purchased a Friedrich wall AC Sept. 24, 2019 to replace an AC I had for 6 years. It was recommended because it had a good reputation (which I later found out from experts is no longer the case). It was used summer of 2020 and 2021. When I put it on a month ago it worked a few days and stopped. I contacted a few people to check it out. It turned out the computerized section had a glitch which affected the power cord which resulted in 2 problems, I know it is covered for 1st year and then only the compressor is covered for an additional 4 years . . , UNLESS you purchase the EXTENDED warranty. Since I paid just under $1,000 for this unit I did not expect it to die this soon! Normally Friedrich & other high-end brands used to last up to 10 yrs. The sales practices are becoming a little more than a scam. The item will last as long as the extended warranty. I can barely afford the sales price let aloan extended warranties or another new AC! There must be some recourse when items are sub-standard.
