I hope this message finds you well. I would like to share my recent experience while searching for a PG on Magic Bricks, and I have some concerns regarding a particular listing that I came across.
While searching on Magic Bricks, I found a PG listing under the name of Jaywant Patiul PG. The address mentioned on the platform was Lajpat Nagar; however, no clear address details were provided. I obtained the contact number for this listing through Magic Bricks and initiated contact with the person responsible for it.
Initially, I was hesitant, but since the property was labeled as “verified” on Magic Bricks, I decided to proceed. The individual I spoke to informed me that I needed to make an initial payment of Rs. 2,000 to secure the PG. I reluctantly made this payment.
The following day, I received a request to pay INR 8,010 to confirm the booking. Unfortunately, I complied with this request, as well. However, things took a concerning turn when the person insisted that I needed to show two separate payments of INR 8,000 and INR 10 to complete the booking process.
This raised my suspicions, and I questioned this requirement. In response, the individual assured me that he would refund the additional amounts promptly while keeping me on the call. After a brief moment, he informed me that there was a technical issue preventing the refund.
At this point, he asked for an additional payment of INR 16,000, which is when I realized that I had fallen victim to a scam.
My primary concern in this matter is why a listing like this, which appears to be fraudulent, is listed as a “verified” property on Magic Bricks. Furthermore, I am troubled by the fact that Magic Bricks provided me with the contact information of individuals engaged in fraudulent activities.
I believe it is essential for Magic Bricks to take appropriate measures to ensure the legitimacy of the listings on their platform and to protect potential renters from scams. I kindly request that you investigate this matter and take appropriate actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
