Text of Complaint by Preeti singh:

On September 14, while searching for work-from-home jobs, I applied to various opportunities. That same day, I received a WhatsApp message from the number (96013 48592), claiming to be from Apex Data Solution, offering a data entry job. They explained that the job involved filling out 310 forms, with 51 rupees paid per form, as long as there was 90% accuracy. This meant I needed at least 279 correct forms to get paid per form.

As requested, I provided my Aadhar card, email ID, a passport-sized photo, and my signature for registration. After that, they sent me an 11-month agreement, a company website link, and gave me an ID and password, along with an email confirmation. This made me start trusting the company.

I worked hard and completed the project in 2 days and 8 hours, even though I was given 3 days. On the 4th day (18 sep,2024), they said they would check my work and let me know about the salary. Later, they claimed only 268 of my forms were correct. When I logged in to review the errors, I noticed mistakes that I hadn’t made. It seemed like someone had used my ID because I was copy-pasting directly, and my method couldn’t have caused more than 15 mistakes, but they reported 41.

When I questioned them, they brought up a penalty of Rs. 4800 and threatened to file a case if I didn’t pay. However, the agreement only mentioned that if the project wasn’t submitted within 3 days, they wouldn’t be responsible for the salary—there was no mention of any penalty. I soon got a WhatsApp message from someone claiming to be Advocate Chaudhari Narayan (96015 75739). When I asked for his ID…

They continued to threaten me, saying that if I didn’t pay the penalty before 6 pm, they would send a legal notice. I argued, and they eventually sent a notice. My supervisor from Zee News offered to speak with them on a conference call. When I called, no one answered, and they insisted we talk via text. I said I was willing to pay, but they needed to take my call. After some delay, they accepted.

I made a WhatsApp call and brought my supervisor into the conference, telling them he was a reporter from Zee News. As soon as I mentioned this, they disconnected the call. At first, we spoke in English, but then they switched to Hindi and started threatening me, telling me to appear in court the next day with my uncle.
