Excess bill for huge SAP leakage in joint outlet of meter when it was installed first time.

Text of Complaint by MOHAMMED SAJID ABBASI:

My BP no. and CA no. are 1101470040 and 210001469192 respectively and PNG connection is taken through Mahanagar Gas Limited. With due respect it is informed that there was a huge SAP leakage in joint outlet of meter when it was installed first time in our home on 29.01.2022 and due this leakage, the gas was passing out continuously despite without consumption of gas.

Further it was informed that due this leakage, a bill of Rs. 7645/- was generated till 07.05.2022. Here it is to be noted that when first bill was generate till 07.03.2022 for an amount of Rs. 3067/- and as soon as i got it then I complained to MGL customer care for this huge billing amount. The Customer Care suggested me to pay Rs. 401/- for meter checking.

I paid Rs. 401/- on 22.04.2022 for meter checking and technician came on 11.05.2022 and he found that there is a huge SAP leakage in joint outlet of meter. He did the welding and repaired it.

Further on 7 September 2022, a bill of Rs. 15707/- was generated. Subsequently, on 12 October 2022, a reduced bill of Rs. 13214/- was generated.

The meter units from 29.01.2022 to 11.05.2022 (approx. 3 months) were 216 during gas leakage and the units from 12.05.2022 to 08.12.2022 (approx. 7 months) are only 61 after repairing the leakage. It means actual reading after repairing is 61/7= 9 units approx. per month. But they are not taking 9 units per month during the leakage period also?

Also continuously, they are pressurizing and harassing us to pay the whole bill for further continue service, whereas; this huge and excess bill is generated due to leakage during first time installation. Hence this is completely fault of their side. Then why I should pay excess bill on behalf of their fault?

If 9 units per month may be considered, then from 29.01.2022 to 08.12.2022; only total 90-95 units would be considered. But they are taking total 277 units while generated the bill.

Now on 08.12.2022, they have cut the gas connection and also threated that if you would not pay the whole amount, then legal action would be initiated against us.

I have all the documents like technician’s report about leakage, video of technician as proof.
