Text of Complaint by Lata Deokar:

We are Airtel Black customers. My husband, my daughter and I were the initial members of this plan. Later my daughter left India for her further studies. On July 31, I sent an email to Airtel to deactivate my daughter’s no. permanently. As per the response, I tried to remove her no. several times, but to no avail. In August I called Customer Care Number. They asked me to clear all the dues. Accordingly I made advance payment of around INR 4000. I categorically told the person that I want to permanently deactivate my daughter’s number. But even after making advance payment and my repeated requests to deactivate the no. on Sept. 21, I received a bill of INR 410 for the same no. I again contacted the Airtel people to complain against this bill. Their reply was – Why don’t you keep the number? You have so many benefits. When I categorically told them that I DON’T WANT TO HAVE AN ADDITIONAL NUMBER AND MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT COME BACK TO INDIA AT LEAST FOR NEXT THREE/FOUR YEARS, I was asked to clear the due bill of INR 410.08. I think I have informed Airtel several times that we don’t want to keep the number. Airtel is not taking proper action and is harassing me by forcing me to pay. Paying 410 Rs. is not a big deal but they don’t take proper actions at proper times. Hence this complaint.
