Facts of the Case

The complainant was a user of Airtel Broadband/Wi-Fi connection (Account/Connection No: [08020086918_wifi]).

On 12 October 2025, the complainant requested cancellation of the connection through Airtel’s representative Mr. Sunil Raj (Mobile 81470 45160) and by email.

Despite this clear written and verbal request, Airtel failed to disconnect the service and continued billing monthly rental charges without the complainant’s consent or usage.

Airtel later falsely recorded the cancellation date as 25 October 2025, which is factually incorrect and misleading.

Multiple follow-ups and complaint emails were made by the complainant, but Airtel did not act or provide any satisfactory response.

The complainant has not used the service after the cancellation request and is still receiving unjustified invoices, causing financial and mental harassment.

Grounds for Complaint

Deficiency in Service: Failure to act on a legitimate service termination request in a timely manner.

Unfair Trade Practice: Continuing to charge rental fees after the customer explicitly withdrew consent and stopped usage.

Violation of TRAI Regulations: As per TRAI’s service standards, the operator must discontinue billing after the disconnection request.

Mental Harassment and Financial Loss: Continuous follow-ups, false billing, and lack of resolution have caused undue distress.

Relief Sought

The complainant respectfully prays that this Hon’ble Commission may be pleased to:

Direct Airtel to immediately cancel the Wi-Fi connection.

Order Airtel to refund or waive all unjust charges levied after 12 October 2025.

Award compensation of ₹25,000 for mental harassment, inconvenience, and deficiency in service.

Award litigation costs of ₹5,000.

Pass any other order that this Hon’ble Commission deems fit in the interest of justice.
