Text of Complaint by Pratyush Kumar:

I am writing to file a complaint against Townhouse 1193 Salt Nd Sugar, Lucknow, regarding harassment and wrongful denial of check-in. I had booked 2Rooms for 4 person at this hotel through MakeMyTrip with the booking ID NH78250256272772. However, upon reaching the hotel, the manager informed me that the booking amount I had paid on MakeMyTrip was only a token price and that I needed to pay an additional amount of Rs. 4100 to stay at the hotel.
I was shocked and taken aback by this demand, as I had already made the full payment through the MakeMyTrip platform. I tried to reason with the manager, but he was rude and dismissive, and refused to allow me to check-in unless I paid the additional amount. This left me feeling harassed and humiliated.
When I contacted MakeMyTrip customer support to address this issue, they informed me that the booking was done through Oyo hotels and they attempted to reach the hotel manager through the Oyo regional manager, but to no avail. Finally, they offered to cancel the booking and initiate a refund of INR 862, which is a minuscule amount compared to the original booking amount.
This experience has caused me immense inconvenience and mental agony, especially as I had to scramble to find alternative accommodations at the last minute. Moreover, the hotel’s behavior towards me was rude and unprofessional.
Finally, after a prolonged argument, the hotel manager as well as the MakeMyTrip customer care executive informed me that my booking had been cancelled and only a refund of INR 862 was initiated for the same. This is unacceptable, as I had made my travel plans and arrangements based on this booking and the hotel’s wrongful denial of check-in caused me great inconvenience and mental stress.

I request you to take strict action against Townhouse 1193 Salt Nd Sugar, Lucknow, and ensure that such harassment and wrongful denial of check-in do not happen again in the future. I also request you to ensure that I receive full compensation for the mental and physical harassment caused to me by the hotel.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
To
