Text of Complaint by Kamal Chauhan:

There is an extension counter of Jio sim selling service in village – Shokhuvi (near ARTC&S Gate) of Dimapur districts of Nagaland.

I rang the above-mentioned extension counter of Jio service from my representative to purchase a new registered sim card.

The chap inside said he need either voter ID card or driving licence or updated bank passbook.

In this regard I have following to complain:-

1.     Govt of India has introduced Aadhar system for linking and for commencing any new services, then why still they want voter ID or driving licence? I don’t have either of these, because I am an Army person who don’t generally require these documents. I told him to accept aadhar card or service certificate  but he said NO.

2.    The guy asked me to bring bank passbook with updated details. My question is  why Jio company needs our bank details, which is said to be a confidential document of an individual?

3.    I have the phone call recording of that individual who asked me to bring the passbook.

4.  To test him again, I went on 22 Apr 2019, I took the photocopy of bank passbook and asked him whether it is ok? He said NO, he need original passbook, to which he will take a click from his mobile and send it to his superior authority for further action. I ask why Jio needs my personal details of bank?

APROPOS, I REQUEST THE CONSUMER FORUM TO LOOK INTO THIS AND CLARIFY THE REQUIREMENT OF BANK PASSBOOK FROM JIO.
