Today morning I received phone call claiming to be Amazon sales representative and said we have selected your account for following free gift
iPhone 11
Some led tv
Etc etc
Their voice and way of talking was very very convincing and on top of it when I received the call, Amazon was mentioned in the name so I believed it.
They told me all I had to do was buy anything from Amazon for rs 5000 and they will send that item along with above free gift. They even gave me free gift promotional code which seemed very genuine as when I typed the code it indeed opened the link to that gift in Amazon. So I believed them which was my first mistake.
I purchased items for 6199 as minimum order value should be 5000 or above. As soon as I called them they provided me link to pay which btw wasn’t from any official Amazon id.( my 2nd big mistake was I didn’t think about it that time that the link doesn’t have any Amazon connection to it) . I paid 6199 amt from that link. Got payment confirmation from payu. Still I didn’t think it was fake. After payment this Amazon sales person in name of Avinash tells me you have to pay GST too for the free product or else we wouldn’t be able to dispatch it. To my horror gst amount was 11999. Again they sent me some link to pay gst which wasn’t from Amazon. I believed them since they never asked bank details or any such things. .
When I paid that amount via link they provided, amt got debited frm my account by they sales person said they have received 10 rs short from that amount. Means they received 11899 only due to which they couldn’t go ahead with generating bill as per him. He convinced me that amount is refundable as it is Amazon promotion offer. So he convinced me to pay 11999 again as they required exact amount of gst to generate details from their system. Which now I think about it was complete fake. So in shot I was duped of 24000 rs which they said is refundable as gst plus 6199 rs of product amount.
Now I realised they never asked which product or never gave any link to add product to the cart. How would they know which product to dispatch? So I realised this was completely fake call and I am duped of 30000 rs . Now they are not answering my phone too. They answered everytime up until I paid.
Now what to do? As it’s my fault too that I was convinced . Pls help
