i had recently visited Bhutan with my family. Airtel activated international roaming facility on my number without my request. When asked they said its a free roaming service unless utilised. My husband also has airtel but this was not done for his phone. During our previous visit out of India i had no such issues either. This time i got unlucky.
Airtel charged me Rs 999 every second day, they claim else my bill would have been 49000 for the data services. Surprisingly i was sparing having time to check my phone, and that too it was done through hotel wifi – as done during my previous out of country visits.
This day light robbery by airtel and their justification really takes my faith of this company. I have been airtel user since 2007 and have never defaulted any payment.
very sad set of customer service team – they dont take responsibility of their goof up. Plus they say that i have sent 64 sms during my trip days – i dont even use sms facility since the time whatsapp and social media have come. When checking these are unknown numbers without my knowledge its been set- how ? i dont know know – 10 sms to 1 number 9845087001, 30 plus sms to 9845060893.. and few more/ when i call these numbers its says its invalid numbers – how come its on my bill? That is confidential information as quoted by airtel customer service.
do i pay the bill or default it or migrate my number to other reliable service provider? as this is a common problem of airtel. i hope this issue resolves before my bill due dates.
