I purchased airtel sim many years back with lifetime validity. I received SMS indicating that I have to recharge with Rs 35 to extend its validity and moreover this recharge needs to be done every 28 day. Else my outgoing will be stopped and number will be discontinued.
My complaint is: Does Airtel inform TRAI regarding this change in policy?
Does TRAI gives them approval to change the policy?

Firstly, low-use category people take prepaid connection so they don’t have monthly commitment. What is the operator’s problem if number is idle. They earn when customer finds their offer (talktime, data, SMS pack) attractive & recharges. They know that they are not offering affordable & attractive recharge packs. So it appears they have colluded. These mobile operators were given lifetime license, so if they change rules & dictate to users to recharge every month, their lifetime license too should be curtailed. or better still nationalise the mobile operators ! If not done Digital India mission will suffer.
