I, Midhun P, bought 2 bicycles from Lucifer bikes (www.luciferbikes.com) for me and my wife on 5th November. Both bikes were bought based on the rider’s age and height as specified by the manufacturer. We received both bicycles by 29th November.
On 7th December 2022, while I was riding the bike slowly near my apartment, the bicycle seat handle broke and I fell down instantly.
I landed on both wrists and knees, and dislocated & fractured my left wrist. A security guard and another man in a scooter came to help me.
The security guard took my bicycle and the man immediately rushed me to a near by hospital, Sree Venkateswara Hospital – Varthur. Even though the doctor suggested a surgery, I didn’t opt for that and he fixed my dislocated arm and put a cast.
Based on the suggesion of Dr. Rajanish from Baby Memorial hospital, Kozhikode, I went ahead with the surgery in the Baby Memorial hospital. I got admitted to the hospital on 9th December and undergone ORIF surgery on 10th morning. 1 steel plate with 7 screws have been inserted into my wrist bone. I got discharged on 13th evening.
Currently I am recovering and according to the doctor, it will take approx 1 year for full recovery. Me being a passionate football player (Goalkeeper) and an IT professional, I rely mostly on my arms. This incident is purely due to a manufacture defect of the bicycle and it has cost me a lot of financial expense and mental strain. After 2 years, I may need to undergo another surgery to remove the steel hardware inserted during ORIF surgery
