Text of Complaint by Rajendra Kamath:

I booked a Mumbai Chicago return ticket online at www.airindia.in for my twin sons (aged 17 years). Confirmation # R5YLC6.

I called Air India help desk to change the Delhi Mumbai because the time between landing at New Delhi and departure to Mumbai was just 2 hours. After discussion, I was told that the Delhi Mumbai leg has been changed for both the boys to 7 pm departure.

I also checked online and was able to block seats together in the 7 pm flight. However, on Aug 2, 2022, while I was doing a web checkin, it only allowed web check in of inky 1 passenger. I called Air India call center again and this time they informed me that only 1 passenger was changed to 7 pm departure from Delhi….and that due to some reason the other passengers Delhi Mumbai timing (on the same confirmation number) has not been changed. When I insisted that this was a mistake done by Air India on July 19, 2022 and that they need to give me a confirmation, the customer representative disconnected the call. I called again and this time I spoke to a lady (Ms. Shravani) and she confirmed that both tickets have been changed to 7 pm from Delhi but due to some technical glitch she was unable to fix it and that at the airport it will be confirmed.

On Aug 3, 2022, at Chicago Airport, Air India counter, while checking in, it was reconfirmed by the Air India personnel that both tickets are on 7 pm Delhi flight and that the boarding cards will be given to them in Delhi. However, at Delhi, 2nd passenger was informed that he was a no show for the 3 pm flight and had to pay INR 23000 to continue journey on same conf number or he has to buy a entirely new ticket. My other son’s ticket was already changed to 7 pm. My boys being minors did not have a credit card on them and neither did they have so much cash with them.

My son called me from Delihi airport. I requested the lady at the check in counter but I was told to shell out more money. I ended up buying a new ticket on Air India for my second son for INR 6480 (confirmation # JK8F9A)

I want justice and compensation for the treatment meted out to the twin boys who were helpless and completely at the mercy of Air India.
