I use Airtel App to pay my utility bills and I always added money from Credit card for such payments. This month when I tried to pay the Power bill, transaction was canceled and when looked further 2% fee was charged on the money added due to which the loaded amount balance was not sufficient to pay the bill. There was no message or notification of such deduction using credit card during the bill pay. When reached out to customer care on the taxes, they simply told that it was new rule implemented from September 1st and message was to all customers. When asked how customer will remember this message during the payments and there should be a pop-up or a notification while they choosing the credit card, the response was not good and they simply closed the call. I sent multiple mails to airtel customer care and received the same response as it was due to credit card tax.
This is simply their application design fault as there was no alert and for that reason, I asked them to refund or cancel the transaction so that will add money through Debit card. They were resisting and not taking any complaint by simply closing the topic as the deductions cannot be refunded. Please help here as this will be a problem to many customers who were using the credit card and Airtel simply looting everyone’s valuable money.
